Simple Daily Deeds for Jannah

There are 24 hours in day where so many windows of opportunity exist for us to gain an entrance into Paradise. We are all striving for Allah’s Pleasure and yearning that moment to see His Face in Jannah. So, we need to reflect on how we are today as Muslims, since yesterday has past and we aren’t certain about tomorrow. Hasan Al-Basri said :”The world is three days: As for yesterday, it has vanished ,along with all that was in it .As for tomorrow, you may never see it. As for today, it is yours so work in it.

How amazing is the wisdom of our Salaf! So following Hasan Al-Basri’s advice I decided to compile a simple daily deeds manual for Jannah. The hadith in it are from Bukhari,Muslim,Abu Dawud,At-Tirmithi,An-Nisa’I,Ibn Majah, and the Musnad Imam Ahmed. For the Ahadith’s authenticate status outside of Bukhari and Muslim I relied on Imam Shaykh Al-Albani’s judgment without detailing all scholars who collected the hadith. Lastly I recommend that if you use this manual, you begin with what’s easy for you to practice until you become consistent with it, then practice another deed, rather than trying to do everything in one day from the beginning.  The Prophet’s (ﷺ) said: “The most beloved deeds to Allah are the most regular and constant even if it were not many.” [Al-Bukhari #6464, Muslim 1866, from Aisha(Radi Allahu anha)]

  1. Dying today with your Tawheed intact

The Prophet (ﷺ) told Mua’dh ibn Jabal:” Whoever dies without giving one of Allah’s rights to anyone or anything will enter Jannah. [Al-Bukhari 2856, Muslim 153 ,by Mu’adh ibn Jabl (Radi Allahu anhu)]

  1. Safeguarding the Fajr and Asr prayers in their proper timings

Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: Whoever safeguards the Fajr and Asr prayer will enter Jannah. [Al-Bukhari 574, Muslim 1470 by Abu Musa Al-Ash’ari(Radi Allahu anhu)]

  1. Praying the 5 daily prayers correctly

A man came to Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) asking him about Islam, Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “You have to offer five compulsory prayers in a day and a night (24 hours).” The man asked, “Is there any more compulsory prayers for me?” Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “No, unless you like to offer Nawafil (i.e. optional prayers……So, the man departed saying, “By Allah I will neither do more nor less than that.” Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “If he is sincere in what he’s saying, he will be successful.”[Al-Bukhari 2678, Muslim 109, Talha ibn Ubaid (Radi Allahu anhu)]

  1. After Fajr and Asr seek Allah’s Forgiveness with the most superior wording.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “The most superior way of asking for forgiveness from Allah is: ‘Allahumma anta Rabbi la ilaha illa anta. Khalaqtani wa ana `Abduka, wa ana ‘ala ‘ahdika wa Wa’dika mastata’tu A’uidhu bika min sharri ma sana’tu  abu’u Laka bi ni ‘matika wa abu’u Laka bidhanbi; faghfirli fa’innahu la yaghfiru-dh-dhunuba ill a anta..’ If somebody recites this invocation during the night, and if he should die then, he will go to Paradise (or he will be from the people of Paradise). And if he recites it in the morning, and if he should die on the same day, he will have the same fate. ” [Al-Bukhari 6306, by Shadad ibn Ows (Radi Allahu anhu)]

  1. Obey the Prophet’s Commands and practice  His Sunnah; and avoid the things he prohibited.

Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “All my followers will enter Paradise except those who refuse.” They said, “O Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ)! Who will refuse?” He said, “Whoever obeys me will enter Paradise, and whoever disobeys me is the one who refuses (to enter it).”[Al-Bukhari 7280 , by Abu Hurayrah (Radi Allahu anhu)]

The Messenger of Allah () said: When the Mu’adhdhin says: Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, and one of you should make this response: Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest; (and when the Mu’adhdhin) says: I testify that there is no god but Allah, one should respond: I testify that there is no god but Allah, and when he says: I testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, one should make a response: I testify that Muhammad is Allah’s Messenger. When he (the Mu’adhdhin) says: Come to prayer, one should make a response: There is no might and no power except with Allah. When he (the Mu’adhdhin) says: Come to salvation, one should respond: There is no might and no power except with Allah, and when he (the Mu’adhdhin) says: Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, then make a response: Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. When he (the Mu’adhdhin) says: There is no god but Allah, and he who makes a re- sponse from the heart: There is no god but Allah, he will enter Paradise.[Muslim 876]

“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘There are two characteristics which no Muslim man acquires but he will enter Paradise. They are easy but those who do them are few. At the end of every prayer he should glorify Allah (by saying Subhan Allah) ten times, extol Him (by saying Allahu Akbar) ten times, and praise Him (by saying Al-Hamdu Lillah) ten times.’ I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) counting them on his hand. ‘That is one hundred and fifty (after all the prayers of the day) on the tongue, and one thousand and five hundred on the Scale. And when he goes to his bed, let him glorify Allah and praise Him and extol Him one hundred times. That will be one hundred on the tongue and one thousand on the Scale.[Abu Dawud 5067, Ibn Majah 754 , Abdullah ibn Amr (Radi Allahu anhu)]

That the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Whoever dies and he is free of three: Kibr (Pride), Ghulul, and debt, he will enter paradise.”[Ibn Majah 2403 by Thowban (Radi Allah anhu) Ghulul refers to goods stolen from the spoils of war, or concealed, before it is divided among the soldiers.]

“Whoever says Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah, seeking the Countenance of Allaah thereby, and that is the last of his deeds, will enter Paradise.
