This Saturday, May 18, 2024, we will reopen Masjid King Khalid starting with fajr prayer at 5:15 AM. The Board of Trustees has diligently worked with the administration of Shaw University to arrange for armed security to be at the masjid during the times they requested. Unfortunately, we have yet to hear back from them regarding the several quotes we provided. Reopening the masjid was conditioned on having armed security on the premises during the days and times that Shaw University’s students and faculty were in the building. With the spring semester coming to an end on May 10, 2024, and faculty clearing out on May 17, 2024, the requirement for armed security is not applicable until the start of the fall semester on August 14, 2024, as both students and faculty will be absent until then. Therefore, starting May 18, 2024 there is no longer a justification for keeping the masjid closed. We will continue working with Shaw University’s administration to ensure that armed security is available for the start of the fall semester. We thank everyone for their patience!

As a reminder, we ask that all those who frequent the masjid review and abide by our Code of Conduct. Also, any violations of the Code of Conduct should be immediately reported to the Board of Directors.

We still need two things from the community. We are asking that all our supporters officially become registered members of Masjid King Khalid and indicate willingness to volunteer to make our efforts successful by the grace of Allah. Also, we are actively seeking 50 people to commit to donating $40 per month. If we reach this goal, we will be able to financially sustain this house of Allah and prove that we are worthy of this test that we have been presented. Click here to become a member and donate!
